Why I joined a board network

A short note on a new step

Britta Matthesius, founder of NOUWORK, has been accepted as a candidate at Women for the Board. Here she writes about what she takes from twenty years in hospitality into a board mandate.

Board work is new for me. What I have is twenty years in hotels. Four Seasons in New York, Milan and Prague. An opening in Davos. Twelve years at Baur au Lac in Zurich, the last of them in the executive committee.

Most of what I learned there happened between a strategy on paper and the people who had to run it.

The Women for the Board network makes women visible for board and foundation board mandates. My profile is online since this week.

What I like most about it is the exchange. Most first mandates come through someone who knows you. So I want to meet the women who are already there, ask them how they did it, and share what I know.

My profile at Women for the Board is here.
